OUR NATURAL HERITAGE FOR SALE
The Carr Government is taking decisions that will sell-off and damage
publicly owned environmental assets. Will this be the lasting legacy of
the ‘green’ Premier?
- Privatisation of water in our rivers
- Selling publicly owned Crown land
- Threatened species protections rendered meaningless
to help
development
- The fate of critical western woodlands left hanging
while logging and
mining continue apace
- South East forests future hangs in the balance as
Government deliberates over national park decision
- Ongoing attacks on our wilderness and national park
areas by granting access to damaging activities
- Massive developments that will desecrate alpine
national parklands
- Broadscale land clearing continues
The Carr Government is out of touch with the community
- NSW rivers are the worst in Australia - 50% have
degraded aquatic wildlife and 25% are regarded as highly stressed
- Over 3.5 million hectares of crown leasehold land
is to be sold off
- There are 978 listed threatened plant and animal
species and communities in NSW
- Brigalow is one of 15 national biodiversity hotspots
yet remains one of the poorest protected regions in NSW
- 25,000ha of high conservation value forest is to
be logged in the Eden woodchip zone
- At least 2 million hectares of wilderness remains
unprotected
- Resorts cover 3,500ha of Kosciuszko National Park
- Over 5,000 square kms have been approved for clearing
by the Carr Government since 1998, on top of illegal clearing and clearing
not requiring approval
Is this a return for developer donations to the
ALP?
Are Ministers or bureaucracies out of control?
